My Life Map

My Life Map
A Journal to Help You Shape Your Future
Kate & David Marshall

Everyone has dreams for their future. Some have even put goals and wishes down on paper. Life Maps was created to help solidify and plot exactly what you want for your future and how to achieve those goals. The maps include past, present, and future.

What an intriguing concept. I'm a huge list and goal maker and was completely unaware that a book like this existed. So I was certainly in my element filling out the questionnaires and charts. But even less goal oriented people will be able to make use of this book. Its simple instructions and fun questions make it easy to use. Definitely a book to share.

Daring Greatly

Daring Greatly
How the Courage to Be Vulnerable Transforms
the Way We Live, Love, Parent, and Lead
Brene Brown

Every single day we face the decision to be vulnerable or dare greatly. Brown uses the book as a medium to explain how we can take shame and vulnerability and exchange them for meaning and purpose in our lives. There aren't really any step-by-step instructions so much as a thought process that needs to be changed in the way we think and approach circumstances.

The book is going to really fly off the shelves for those who have a need for change in their lives or enjoy reading self-help books. It is a dense book full of information, stories and examples. But for someone who is really needing to hear this message it will be an easy and informative read.

Trust Your Eyes

Trust Your Eyes
Linwood Barclay

Ray returns to his parents home after the death of his father to take care of the estate. But there is a small wrinkle in his plans. His brother, Thomas, is schizophrenic and rarely leaves home. He's obsessed with maps and spends most of his days on the computer looking at cities to learn their streets and roads.
When Thomas thinks he sees evidence of a murder, he sends his brother Ray on a chase across the country. Both brothers are soon in way over their heads.

Wow! This book is gripping, thrilling, and captivating. It's been a while since I've enjoyed a thriller this much. The characters have depth and the plot is multifaceted and riveting. The author was able to create a story that will be entertaining to more than one specific group. I felt confident giving this book to my husband to enjoy, even though our tastes in books rarely overlap. I'm going to be checking out other books by this author, for sure.

The Magic Room

The Magic Room
A Story About The Love We Wish For Our Daughters
Jeffrey Zaslow

The author wanted to write a book about the love that we all wish for our daughters to have someday. He also wanted to showcase the relationships between daughters and their parents. Someone suggested he use a bridal store as the back drop for his story. He chose Becker's Bridal in Fowler, Michigan. It's been in the family for three generations. It has seen thousands of brides and has a room called The Magic Room.

The book was so fun to read. I have a daughter so this may have played into it a little bit. The author chose several of the brides and told their stories along with the story of the bridal store. He uses interesting facts and information to show how being a bride and a parent has changed over the years.
Would definitely recommend this book to anyone with a daughter.
