The Berenstain Bears God Made You Special
Mike Berenstain
The Berenstain Bears get to meet a new friend when the Bruin family brings their cousin to the cookout. Tommy seems a little different that them and Sister Bear starts asking questions. Mama Bear and Mrs. Bruin explain that Tommy might be a little different than she is, but that God made each of us special in our own way.
Children are told a story with familiar characters while the concept of being special is introduced. The reason for Tommy being special is left vague. This allows children to recognize their own friends or family in Tommy. The adults in the story explained the concept in a simple and easy to understand way. The questions at the end of the story are perfect for opening conversations and stressing to the young reader that each person is special, no matter what their strengths or talents are. This book is another classic and will be added to our collection.
