The Shocking Secret of a Guest at the Wedding
Victoria Alexander
Jack is given the shock of his life when he walks into a room and finds a man claiming to be his father, a father that he had thought dead for his entire 30 years of life. His mother had conveniently chosen to keep his father a secret his entire life. So the staid banker goes completely against character and makes the impulsive decision to go with his newly found father to England. Having grown up in America his entire life, Jack is completely confused by everything English. When he meets a young woman named Teddy, he enlists her help to tell him about his father's country. Both are keeping secrets, and both have plans that might come in the way of romance.
Despite the rather cheesy cover, I was looking forward to this book. The plot is fun. Who wouldn't love to find out they are in line for a title? The two main characters were a mixed bag for me. Jack had depth and a sense of humor. Teddy was annoying and made horrible decisions, tons of them. The secondary characters helped redeem this a little bit. The dialogue between the two main characters was very lengthy and detailed. I felt the author was trying to tell the majority of the story through the dialogue. And the ending was frustrating. But overall, looking back, it was a fun story and I'll try another book by this author since I did enjoy the plot so much.
I received this book free of charge from Goodreads in exchange for my honest review.
