Baby Cows
Kari Schuetz
Large fonts, bright, colorful photographs, and fun descriptions make this a book that will be enjoyed by a wide number of children. The text describes the baby calves and what their life might be like on the farm. It also talks about the different words to describe them, the types of food they eat, and how they rest. The book is designed for beginner readers and the text fits well into this category. Colorful, descriptive words head most of the overlayed text and all difficult words are highlighted. The highlighted words can be found in the glossary at the back of the book. Each page describes some aspect of a baby cow and how it lives. Early readers will enjoy being able to read the book themselves. But the book would also be great for parents to read to toddlers who are learning about about animals. The large pictures, size of the book, and simple vocabulary will be appreciated by the younger children. This would also be an excellent resource in the preschool classroom. The back of the book includes a page for more resources in the library and on the internet, as well as an index of different words and the pages they are found on.
I received this book free of charge from Children's Lit in exchange for my honest review.
